Festivals
If you host a festival within your authority, could I ask you to share with me your Council's approach to festival waste concerning the following:
•Is there any prior discussion beforehand with festival organisers regarding how the solid festival waste will be disposed of? (e.g., food and drink packaging including single-use plastics such as bottles, bags and food trays, bulky production waste, wood and set waste, tents and camping equipment).
•Is there any prior discussion beforehand regarding the recycling efforts/targets of the aforementioned waste?
•Does the issue of recycling waste occur in any of the documents/event management plans your authority sends out to the festival organisers?
•Do you think central government should have a policy concerning the recycling of festival waste to assist local authorities with their approach to this subject?
I would like to thank you for taking the time to assist me with my studies and can confirm that any information provided will be confidential. If you can share a copy of your event management plan with me this would be much appreciated.
Thurrock council does not hold any music events. The only event that takes place in the borough is within the Orsett Showground which is privately owned.
