  1. Did you have an underspend in the early years block for funded places in 2021/22? No.

OR:

  1. Did you have an overspend in the early years block for funded places in 2021/22? Yes
    • As part of finalising the 2021/22 accounts an accrual for an additional £0.625m ESFA funding was made. This allowed for a balanced outturn position.
  1. What actions, if any, were agreed relating to this underspend or overspend?

For example, we used our underspend to offset a deficit in the high needs block

    • No actions taken as dependent upon the increase in funding to be received from the ESFA
  1. Has your early years block been subject to an in-year adjustment by the Department for Education? If so, by how much?
    • The final additional value of funding to be received has been confirmed by ESFA as £0.518m, a shortfall of £0.107m.

For example, the DfE adjusted our underspend by £200,000 which left us with an overspend of £20,000 overall

    • An overspend of £0.107m. It Is expected that this will be recovered in 2022/23.
