Freedom of information response
money allocated to LGBTQ+ people every year
I would like to know how much money the council allocates to LGBTQ+ people every year and on what projects or resources the money is spent on. I would like to know about the last three years.
For each project or resource, I would like a brief description to understand what they are. If the project or resource is targeting a specific LGBTQ+ group (transgender people, queer people of colour etc.), I would like to know.
No funds are specifically allocated for any LGBTQ+ provision however, community and voluntary sector groups can apply to a Community Fund which is funded from a budget within Community Development and Equalities.
All grants awarded by council are published on the transparency list: Community grant payments | What we spend | Thurrock Council.
From a Learning and Development point of view, training on Equality, Diversity and Cultural Awareness that covers all Protected Characteristics is provided to all staff. Annual fund of £500 is allocated to each staff network, including the LGBTQ+ network, to use to use as they see fit.

Your request will be considered by a senior member of the Information Management Team who will update you with the outcome of the review.
If you remain unhappy following the outcome of your Internal Review you may wish to refer your case to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) and details of this organisation can be found at www.ico.org.uk . Please be advised that the ICO will not consider your case until they have confirmation that you have already been through the Internal Review stage with the council.
