Public notice

1) The Borough Council of Thurrock is satisfied that it is necessary to restrict or prohibit traffic in the above road without delay because of the likelihood of danger to the public or serious damage to the road.

2) The Council, in exercise of its powers under Section 14(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers, has therefore made the following Notice:

• prohibit any vehicle from travelling along London Road between its junctions with Vellacott Close and Stonehouse Corner Roundabout
• temporarily revoke the 7.5tn weight restriction on London Road

3) The purpose of the Notice is for reasons of safety after a road traffic collision and to enable recovery of a Heavy Goods Vehicle.

4) The alternative route for eastbound vehicles will be London Road westbound, Tank Hill Road, New Tank Hill Road, Purfleet Bypass and Stonehouse Corner Roundabout and vice versa for westbound vehicles.

5) The Notice will come into force at midday on Tuesday 14 March 2023 and will be valid for 5 days, however it is expected that the works and recovery required will take place today between the hours of midday and 3pm, and again on Wednesday 15 March 2023 between the hours of 9am and 5pm. It will apply only on those days and during those times when indicated on site by the presence of the appropriate traffic signs in accordance with The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.
