Taxi vehicle testing

Compliance tests for taxis are carried out at our garage in West Thurrock.

The test is an inspection to make sure each vehicle is in good mechanical order and complies with pre-licensing standards.

Tests cannot be carried out more than 2 weeks before your renewal is due

On the day of the test

Please park in the visitor's car park at our garage in St Clement's Way, West Thurrock (map below). You should report to reception and then wait in our waiting room. Please don't enter any workshop spaces.

Arrive 5 minutes before your inspection time as late arrival may be considered a missed appointment

The following should be left on show in the boot or on the passenger seat of your vehicle:

• first aid kit
• fire extinguisher
• high visibility vests
• warning triangle
• any relevant wheelchair fixing equipment

Don't leave valuables such as mobile phones or money in the vehicle.

Missed or cancelled appointments

You will be charged £45 if you miss a test appointment. This will be payable over the phone at the time you make a new appointment.

You will still be charged if you don't attend your test. No refund will be made unless you have given us at least 24 hours' notice.

Failed tests

Your vehicle will need to be retested if it vehicle fails the compliance test. Re-tests cost £45.
